Taekwondo employs almost every part of the body in defensive
and offensive moves. The art of Taekwondo is most evident in
its prearranged patterns called "Hyung". Hyung help
to develop balance, speed, focus, timing, endurance and power
with a set of offensive and defensive movements against multiple
imaginary opponents. Kicks are the Taekwondo's trademark. The
practitioners learn how to effectively
defend themselves from potential harm and increase their physical
and mental fitness while increase balance and co-ordination.
Ultimately, Taekwondo is about living, not fighting. Taekwondo
is one of the most popular worldwide martial arts and it contributes
not only to the improvement of human health but also to the
establishment of human unity within society. Today Taekwondo
has become an Olympic sport, making its debut as an official
medal winning sport at the Sydney Olympics.
